13 Yonkers HS Students Participate in the Hudson River Ecology Course

CURB recently hosted our 4th cohort of Yonkers high school students for the week-long Hudson River Ecology Curriculum and Course (HRECC). Students participating in the course had the option to take it for one transferable college credit. Additionally, 10 of the students will be hired as part of our yearlong EELS Team internship program, which starts this fall.

Throughout the week, the students explored various Hudson River topics including geography, sediment coring, plankton, food webs, seining, water quality, tidal marshes, and more. These lessons utilized hands-on data collection both in the field as well as in our laboratory. In addition to their on-site work, the students also completed assignments at home and wrapped up the week with a final project.

Congratulations to all of the students on successfully completing the course!
